Tidal Surge was inspired by that feeling when the water gathers itself, powerful, beautiful, and impossible to stop.

This original acrylic painting on canvas grew from a long hike to a secluded pink sand beach in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.  Painted from photographs taken on location, it is not a literal rendering of the landscape, but an impression of the experience itself.  It captures the color, movement, and exhilaration of standing where the ocean meets the shore.

The painting explores the quiet balance between motion and stillness.  As the surf rolls in and retreats, shifting ribbons of foam and sand invite your eye to wander across the canvas, evoking the rhythm, energy, and calming cadence of the ocean.
