The Women in the Water pieces are a continuing exploration of the inner life of women, expressed through the language of water. These figures are not traditional portraits of specific individuals, but reflections of emotional states, introspection, resilience, vulnerability, solitude, and quiet strength.
Water becomes both setting and metaphor. It softens boundaries and creates a space where thought and feeling can surface. Some figures float, some submerge, some emerge for air belying moments that mirror the way we move through our own lives.
The works are inspired in part by my own lifelong relationship with water, from swimming, surfing, snorkeling, beach combing, sailing, fishing and tide pools. Rather than telling a literal story, each painting invites the viewer to bring their own experience to it. Many collectors describe a strong personal connection to these pieces, seeing not just a figure, but a feeling they recognize.
This collection includes original paintings and museum-quality giclee fine art prints.
