Award Winning
Sometimes the smallest gifts carry the greatest love.
This piece was inspired by a quiet act of love. While walking in Haleiwa, my great-nephew gathered a single hibiscus blossom and a lemon as a Mother's Day gift for his mother. I was deeply moved by the sincerity of the gesture and wanted to preserve that fleeting moment in a quiet intimate composition.
It became both a technical and personal challenge, combining colored pencil with airbrushed acrylic inks to capture the transparency of glass, reflected light, and the delicacy of the flower.
Haleiwa Still Life was a Finalist in the Colored Pencil Society of America's "Explore This ! Exhibition of 2026.
